At this time, all members of the VGBA must be attorneys in good standing and either actively practicing in the video game and interactive entertainment industry or currently employed by a law school as a professor in specialized topics of the field. All prospective members must first apply to be peer-certified as an active practitioner in the industry.

Annual Fee: $150
Affiliate Membership in the Video Game Bar Association is open to individuals who meet the following criteria under one category:
Bar Admitted
1. Applicant has been barred in the U.S. or similarly in another non-U.S. country for less than two (2) years and currently a member in good standing within such territory, OR has been barred more than two (2) years and has not worked in the video game or interactive entertainment law industry but has interest in pivoting to a career focused on primarily representing game industry clients.
Other Professional
1. Applicant has either obtained a J.D but not barred, currently a paralegal working in video game law, or a policy employee who works in video game law or similar to advance the field; AND 2. Current career focus of Applicant’s practice does not need to include primarily representing game industry clients, but their professional goals are aligned with the VGBA’s mission and or they have a strong interest in working in video games in the future.
- Submission of this application does not guarantee acceptance or membership within the V.G.B.A.
- Each application will be evaluated by the V.G.B.A. Membership Committee.
- All decisions regarding inclusion are in the sole discretion of the V.G.B.A.
